I stand here today
Alone in the crowd
Totally abandoned
Even though I’m surrounded
And the voices, they come
To torment my poor soul
And point out the things
I’d rather left untold

Chorus:
I can see myself
With crystal clarity
My flaws on display
They’re all I can see
I’m alone with myself
What’s left of me, that is
And I just can’t escape
This beautiful madness

This beautiful madness

With my imperfections shining
Like bloody gems in a row
I just keep wondering
How everyone doesn’t know
That I turn from the light
So that it won’t show
More dark secrets I hide
Deep in my black soul

Chorus:
I can see myself
With crystal clarity
My flaws on display
They’re all I can see
I’m alone with myself
What’s left of me, that is
And I just can’t escape
This beautiful madness

This beautiful madness

I fight by myself to keep
What’s left of my sanity
I fight to keep myself out
To not know all about me
Some people journey to find themselves
And come back with only lies
While I struggle with the dark truths
My poor soul can’t hide

Chorus:
I can see myself
With crystal clarity
My flaws on display
They’re all I can see
I’m alone with myself
What’s left of me, that is
And I just can’t escape
This beautiful madness

This beautiful madness

To see one’s self
Is a beautiful thing?
Sometimes I wonder
Okay, so I’m always wondering,
If the sight of a soul
Is so undeniably good
Why do I writhe here in torment?
Maybe I’ve just misunderstood, but

Chorus:
I can see myself
With crystal clarity
My flaws on display
They’re all I can see
I’m alone with myself
What’s left of me, that is
And I just can’t escape
This beautiful madness

And I just can’t escape
This beautiful madness

Okay, so the title's a little weird, but the song explains it. I wrote this after talking with Kat on our very different views of what madness is. And the more I thought about it, the more I realised that there HAD to be more than one type of madness, I've actually seen a couple different types. Anyways, this is the type (at least I think it is) that Kat was talking about.

Inspired from listening to Superchic[k]'s Stand in the Rain one too many times. No, the lyric, message, and overall feel are nothing alike. I just like background music while I work.

This is also inspired by Blood and Sunglasses Copywrite I'd recomend it, especially if you are interested in very well written psycological torment and/or vampires.

:lmao: Ah, yes, I have indeed known this feeling before, tis why it took my so long to comment on your last poem. It wasn't that I didn't like it, it was that I felt I couldn't do it justice.

Ah, because you actually wait till you can do justice to a work... while I just apologize for my brainlessness and say nothing whatsoever.

I would like to say first of all, very nice. I really enjoyed the contrast between images of darkness and clarity.
Have you ever read the poem Love Song of a Mad Girl? (Or maybe it's Mad Girl's Love Song, I can't remember).
